Version 0.4.0 now released! See the release notes on GitHub Releases

Where everything lives in the Salty CSS docs, and where to start.

Docs

The Salty CSS docs are split into four sections — get it running, learn how styles are written, follow a guide for a specific job, or look up the exact options of an API. The sidebar lists every page; this one only points you at where each section starts.

You're reading the React version: install commands, import paths and examples all match it. Switch framework from the sidebar and the same pages follow along.

Get started

Installing Salty, the config file, editor setup and how to lay out your style files — plus troubleshooting for when the CSS does not show up. Start with Basic setup.

Basics

Everything you use day to day: styled components and class names, variants, tokens and theming, responsive layouts, animations and the helpers around them. The Basics overview groups them by topic.

Guides

Task-shaped pages for a specific job: keeping packages up to date, moving an existing codebase over, and using Salty on stacks it does not ship wiring for. If you are coming from another styling library, Migration is the one to read.

Reference

The full options of each API, the default CSS reset and every CLI command — for when you know what you want and need the exact details. Start with styled.

Outside the docs

Concepts explain why Salty works the way it does — the compiler, scoping, theming — and are the same for every framework. Recipes are complete, worked examples you can copy into a project.
